SOLD – Winchester 1897 16ga $450

Description

Not a “Palo Verde Primo” but functions well and seems like a pretty solid old 97, for a 1906 gun..

Has a 22 3/4″ barrel and the breech bolt machining looks like it may have had an action job at some time in its life.

Feeds and ejects just like a 97 should. Wood is pretty decent for an old 97 — has the standard beginning of tiny hairline crack at the wrist of the Turkey Neck butt stock like almost all do, forearm is solid.

Bore is surprisingly shiny for an old 97, but does have just the beginnings of light pitting in spots if you look closely enough.

The receiver is all patina (as shown in pics) and the outside barrel surface has the beginning of light surface rust speckles (so do I and I’m not yet 117 years old). I believe wiping the barrel with Flitz would remove most/all of the speckles but I’m leaving it as is.

I’ve  tried to include many pictures to satisfy your curiosity   It’s a pretty decent buy at $450.   16 ga.    (the parts are worth more than $450)
